Public Works Director:
Hahira, a progressive city of approximately 3200 residents and 50 city employees is accepting applications for the hire of a Public Works Director. Applicant should have education and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: water and sewer system operation, sanitation, street and park maintenance, and facilities management. Applicant must be entrepreneurial, energetic, imaginative, well-organized and capable of functioning effectively in a highly independent situation. Applicant must possess excellent written communication, public relation and supervisory skills, and the ability to interact effectively with citizens, engineers, developers, business owners, property owners, and other employees. Applicant will be responsible for ensuring municipal compliance with applicable state and federal regulations for fresh water and sanitary sewer system operation. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in management of a local government Public Works department, and/or possession of a Class III Drinking Water and Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification. If not already obtained, Class III certification must be received within twelve months as a condition of employment.
